مقدمه ای بر کتاب Key Press Sentences

The study of joualistic translation has not been at the centre of linguistic studies so far. This work tries to give this field of study due attention. This collection includes 400 Persian to English sentences divided into 40 frequently used topics in joualism. Each sentence has, at least, one new joualistic term or phrase along with their Persian equivalents. Since variety is an important factor in translating news, therefore, for most of the sentences more than one translation has been provided. Working on the sentences can serve different functions for the potential readers of this collection. The sentences and their translations provide a good practice for writing news. All the terms, phrases and expressions have been underlined so that they can win the attention of its users. ʻMy Notesʼ section give a space to the leaers to comment, reflect and discuss the given translations. As for the photos, the compilers of this work have done their best to provide photos related to the topic of each section. To get the best of this collection, we suggest that you first come up with your own translation and then compare yours with the given translations. The students can separately work on the translation of the joualistic terms, expressions and phrases in the work. Besides, other aspects of joualistic writing such as words, structures, punctuation, exclamation marks and the like can be a good ground for further practice.

The overarching aim of ‘Key Press Sentences’ is to familiarize the students and researchers with the language used in the corpora of English News. This work is an essential reading for students, lecturers, and researchers in Media Studies, Linguistics, Translation, Inteational Affairs, Political science and for anyone planning a career as a media professional.
